Female empowerment and independence is an ever present theme at TRUSS, so we asked the women of our workshop in Oaxaca City for their perspective on what it means to be woman in Oaxaca in 2019:

Fabi is one of the last sets of hands that touches your TRUSS before we ship it to you. She attaches the leather handles, inserts the leather pockets, and other important bits and bobs. Here she is with the resident of the workshop, her daughter Denisse, who comes by after school. “Being a woman means giving my all for my loved ones, especially my kids. And it’s lovely—it is to be a little bit more free in all aspects. I feel empowered in my femininity when I give without asking for anything in return.”
